I’m a UX and design leader with more than 25 years of experience helping organisations design better digital products, and build the teams and systems that make great design possible.

 

My work focuses on design at scale: how organisations structure design teams, align product and engineering around user needs, and create shared platforms that allow experiences to evolve consistently across products and services.

 

Throughout my career I’ve worked across agencies, startups, and global organisations, helping teams navigate complexity and turn fragmented digital ecosystems into coherent user experiences.​​

Design Leadership & DesignOps

Over the last decade my focus has increasingly shifted toward DesignOps and experience strategy.

 

I’m particularly interested in how design operates inside complex organisations — how teams collaborate, how decisions are made, and how shared systems such as design systems and service frameworks enable teams to deliver better products faster.

 

Much of my work involves introducing the structures that allow design to scale effectively, including:

 

design systems and shared UI platforms

DesignOps practices and operating models

cross-team collaboration rituals

experience strategy aligned with business goals

Current Role

I am currently Group Head of User Experience at Spirax Group, a global engineering organisation specialising in thermal energy management and industrial technology.

 

In this role I lead UX across multiple digital products and business units, helping the organisation modernise its digital ecosystem and establish design as a strategic capability within the company.

 

My work includes:

 

  • establishing a central UX function across multiple global teams

  • introducing a group-wide DesignOps framework

  • developing the Fuse design system

  • creating an Innovation Playbook used across product teams

 

This work helps align design, product, and engineering teams around shared experience standards and enables the organisation to deliver more consistent digital products.

How I Think About Design

Great digital experiences don't come from emerge from design work alone.

 

They require strong teams, clear strategy, and shared systems that allow organisations to move quickly without losing coherence.

 

My approach to design leadership focuses on four principles:

 

  • systems thinking

  • collaboration

  • scalability

  • human-centred outcomes

I’m particularly interested in opportunities where design can shape complex systems and organisational change.

Beyond Work​

​Outside of work, I’ve spent the past six years coaching a girls’ football team, shaping confidence, teamwork, and strategy on the pitch. It’s taught me as much about leadership and motivation as any professional role ever could.
